February 2007
| Double Helix Watching the Vedic Moon The Full Moon of February 2007 happens on Thursday, February 1, at 9:45pm, Pacific Time, (that's 15 minutes after midnight on Feb. 2 Eastern Time,) in the lunar sign of Ashlesha. Ashlesha represents serpent energy in it's full range, from the secretive, wily and coldblooded, to the spiritual force of evolution and positive transformation. We get to choose where on the spectrum we'll act from. During this full moon we all get a taste of our most basic, primordial urges - urges that arise from a sense of separation from the other. This includes things like, the urge to protect what is ours, the urge to re-unite with the 'apparent' other, and the urge to have a situation turn out in our favor at all costs. These urges can appear as subtle patterns of thinking - ones that are perhaps even encoded onto our DNA. When seen from the vantage point that all life *Is* our life, then these very same urges turn 'back around on themselves' in a spiraling pattern, allowing our behavior to stem from Love divested of personal interest. With Saturn's placement also in Cancer during this Full Moon, we're likely to feel the spectrum of clinging versus aloofness in relationships - the key may be finding the middle ground which is neither of these extremes. A good contemplation might be, "Am I going for short-term pleasure, or long-term contentment within myself?"

| I Died For Beauty by Emily Dickinson I died for beauty, but was scarce Adjusted in the tomb, When one who died for truth was lain In an adjoining room. He questioned softly why I failed? "For beauty," I replied. "And I for truth,--the two are one; We brethren are," he said. And so, as kinsmen met a night, We talked between the rooms. Until the moss had reached our lips, And covered up our names.
