A Sneak Peek at the Years Ahead
:::Life in the U.S.A., Going Forward:::

Centuries ago in many different countries, astrologers were employed by kings. As a forecasting system similar to meteorology, the practice of astrology was not used so much in the lives of individuals as it was used to help rulers govern the masses wisely, in accordance with the changing "weather" of consciousness.

By using the United States chart as rectified by my vedic astrology teacher James Kelleher, (July 4, 1776, 18:30, Philadelphia, PA,) below I attempt to convey what I'm seeing astrologically about life in the United States over the next few years:

Sept. 2008 - Sept. 2015
(The U.S. is running its Mars dasha.)
A focus on creative ingenuity in dealings with partners abroad.

Feb. 2009 ... Nov./Dec. 2009 ... Aug./Sept./Oct. 2010
(Transiting Pluto conjoins the U.S. Ascendant.)
The likelihood:
The end of U.S. superpower status.
The opportunity:
Transformation of the U.S. identity and revisioning of national ideals.

Sept. 10-17, 2009
(Transiting Saturn squared the U.S. Mars.)
Domestic issues like unemployment and healthcare contributed to putting the brakes on our "ambitions" abroad.

Dec. 31, 2009
(Lunar eclipse in Ardra hits the U.S. Venus and Jupiter within two degrees.)
The likelihood:
U.S. popularity abroad is diminished over the next six months. Tears are shed.
The opportunity:
The U.S. contemplates its origins and history and discovers deep wells of untapped strength.

Jan. 14, 2010
(The solar eclipse in Uttara Ashadha hits Obama's Saturn.)
Obama's authority is challenged, either domestically, or internationally, for the next six months.

Sept. 17-24, 2010
(Transiting Saturn squares the U.S. Venus.)
The likelihood:
A partner sets financial terms: i.e. China lays out new terms on U.S. debt it holds?; possible continued health crises; continued obstacles to the economy's revival.
The opportunity:
The divine feminine finds her voice in American art and culture; stabilizing influence on general American values.

Oct. 12-19, 2010

The likelihood:
The U.S. forges fruitful commitments to partners. The U.S. drafts and commits to schedules to reign in the national debt.

Dec. 20, 2010 - Jan. 10, 2011 ... Sept. 9-17, 2011
(Transiting Saturn squares the U.S. Sun.)
The likelihood:
Anemic national economy, and/or the President experiences problems with his health/vitality or power. Checks and balances revisited. U.S. partners set limits and boundaries. Partners reject U.S. ideas or refuse to help.
The opportunity:
America's development of wisdom, responsibility, humility, and fortitude.

Jan./Feb. 2011 ... Nov./Dec. 2011 ... Sept./Oct. 2012

The potential:
Forces within the U.S. create dangerous economic conditions. Someone or some group attempts to force its values on the country, through guilt, coercion, or manipulation.
The opportunity:
Through difficulties they face, America's empowered women lead the nation in an artistic renaissance and spiritual transformation.

Sept. 26 - Oct. 4, 2011

The U.S. undergoes a self-reflective, "performance review." Renewed interest from various parties in reviewing the nation's commitments and foundations, possibly in the form of reviewing the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights...

Apr./May 2011 ... Feb. 2012
(Transiting Uranus squares the U.S. Ascendant/Descendant.)
The potential:
Changes to the U.S. landscape, brought on by Mother Nature. The U.S. position in the world changes dramatically; an altogether different style of political alliance between nations emerges. Socialist ideals are written into policy as a way to balance out the over-extensions of prior capitalist ideals - Americans experience this as a bumpy ride.
The opportunity:
Greater equality among and opportunities for U.S. citizens. Greater efficiency in distribution of the world's resources. Greater access to information and participation through technologies.

Mar./Apr. 2012 ... Jan. 2013

The potential:
Major difficulties for the U.S. as a nation as a result of dependencies developed by and on Iraq, Afghanistan, or as the result of over-extension in the socialist direction. U.S. addictions and escapism on the rise. Potential stock market collapse.
The opportunity:
Profound spiritual healing for the U.S.' people. The arising of true compassion.

July 2012 - July 2031

As a Capricorn ascendant in the vedic system, these are Obama's most important years of leadership.
